Welcome to 3 Foot 6 Models

Welcome - 3 Foot 6 Models is a new venture for me into model making in 3D printing for New Zealand model railways. As many of you already know, I’ve been making 3D prints for a while, slowly building up my own designs and making a few models for others as I’ve gone.

A few months ago, I purchased Fraser Robertson’s Phrozen Sonic 4K resin printer. It’s a brilliant piece of kit. I’ve learned a lot and, as a result, I’m confident I can now supply quality 3D prints of New Zealand Railway prototypes. To begin with, I’m producing my own designs developed over the past few years (mainly NZR containers, some bogie wagons and the DA class loco). Soon, I’ll be adding designs from Peter Bryant and Simon Lister, both of whom have agreed to a licensing agreement where 3 Foot 6 Models will pay them each a royalty on every model sold. I think this should be a better deal than Shapeways was.

Watch this space as I develop this website and add more products. First up will be Peter and Simon’s NZ120 models, which I hope to expand to other designers. My goal is also to add more 3D printers to the printing “farm”, so I can print bigger scales, especially in HOnz (aka HOn3.5, or HO scale with 12mm track), a proper clean and wash unit (so I don’t have to keep doing it by hand!).
