Assembly instructions: we post these on our YouTube channel: 3 Foot 6 Models - YouTube with more being added on a regular basis!
Supports: We remove all supports during the curing process, but some very small ones may remain in place. These are easily removed with a small sharp hobby knife.
Some supports are left in place during the curing process to prevent bowing and will need to be removed.
Print lines: Some models do have visible print lines, we try as hard as we can to avoid this, and recommend using a very light grit of sandpaper to carefully sand the prints, cutting the sandpaper down to a small size (better yet, use Tamiya’s “sanding pads” and cut then into small squares).
Bowing: sometimes during curing models “bow” and spread out. This is easily remedied using the hot water method: carefully dunk the print in hot water (not quite boiling temperature, we don’t want you to burn your skin!) for 10 - 15 seconds and then remove it from the water, holding it in place in the correct shape. If you can, some people have made jigs to hold the model in the correct shape as it cools.
Painting: we recommend priming all models before painting, our experience is that an enamel primer works best as an undercoat. Enamel paint can then be applied to the primer coat, preferably with an airbrush for best results.
Handrails and other details: these are included where available with the design, but please bear in mind that designers don’t often include them. Most people use brass etches for handrails and vents etc, as these tend to be able to be produced much thinner than is possible with a 3D print. We do sell some of these etches and hope to have more available.
Design changes: 3 Foot 6 Models doesn’t own most of the designs we produce, we are printing them on behalf of our designers, who receive a royalty payment for every 3D print we sell.
If there are changes you think need to be made to designs, please contact us via our website or email sales@3foot6models.com
