Coming soon - CA class and variants

CA class wagons were introduced in the mid-1980s as an improvement on the earlier C-class coal hopper wagons. NZR was on an efficiency drive and seeking to remove the last of the four-wheel wagons in service for coal traffic.

The CA class was thus born and has remained in service since. Initially, there were covered and non-covered versions, with several other variants being created from the original wagons:

  • CAU for carrying bulk urea

  • CG for carrying for grain

I hope to have the CA, CAU and CG wagons available in the store in HOnz and NZ120 by the end of this month.

The CA class and its variants use Type 16A bogies, available here.
