NZR UK class container wagon - open decking - HOnz

from $40.00

The UK class container wagon was first introduced in the late 1960s as containerisation of shipping was underway. The class grew as NZR added more and more batches of the wagons to its fleet, with numerous wagons built up from kitsets produced by Mitsubishi in Japan. At 60ft in length, the UK class could carry two 20ft containers and a 10ft container, or one 40ft container and one 10ft container.

The UK class are the most numerous class of wagon on New Zealand’s railways today, and some have even been exported to Australia (Queensland and Western Australia). Their design has now been surpassed by newer wagons with higher maximum axle loads, but the UK class and its derivatives continue to dominate KiwiRail’s wagon fleet.

This particular version has reduced decking plates, meaning the substructure is visible.

This wagon is printed in aluminum, so lead times will be a bit longer than usual.

The design is HO (1:87 scale), designed to be used with SARMODEL NZR type 14 bogies (available here separately, or included with the wagons - select “yes” below).

End stanchions, Kadee couplers and handbrake detail are also included.

Measurements:

HOnz: 187mm long x 29mm wide x 8mm high
